Hi My name is Hazel Steer & i live in a small hamlet in Mid Wales on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park. We are surrounded by the welsh countryside & the mountains are just up the lane. The scenery changes daily with the weather & the colours change with the seasons extending my scope for inspiration. I’m in love with nature & the amazing creation that GOD has laid out before us to enjoy.. I love taking walks down the lane to see the river change from a trickling stream to a torrent of water coming off the hills in the rain storms that we get here in the mountains.
All my products are made as sustanably as possible.. The slate & stone for my buttons is handpicked from the river bank & local beach. The wool in my handspun yarns & weaving kits is (where possible) sourced from the local farmers & from local sheep that graze the hills around my home. I will always strive to process my materials as sustainably as possible. My weaving looms will be made from recycled, reclaimed or sustainable wood by myself & my dad in his workshop not far from my home.
My Hand dyed yarns will be dyed using locally sourced plants from my garden & foraging down the lanes. If I use acid dyes they will be used until they are exhausted & the water is clear making the water safe to return to the land.
My Rustic Handspun yarns will be spun on my Ashford Joy & Ashford Kiwi wheels so they maybe a bit lumpy bumpy with the occasional bit of vegetable matter but this just tells the story of the sheep & where the fleece was grown.
I want to do my bit to help the environment, reduce waste & produce handspun yarns, Looms & handmade gifts for you to enjoy for years to come. I will be updating my Etsy shop at the end of each month to keep it fresh & if there is a specific loom you want or gift you want please contact me & I will do my best to help you.
